How to Stay Safe on Social Media?

I think we all are agreeing on the fact that the world is not a safe place, not anymore. This especially applies to the digital world. The online world in which we are living in is full of scams, identity thieves, hackers and what not. These Social sites are a great way to keep in touch with our friends or if you are interested in making new friends, but they’re also boon for people looking to gather personal details and scam victims. So should we ban all the social media sites and keep ourselves away from it? I don’t think it’s a viable solution. I think the only way to stay safe on the social media is by becoming more careful and more aware about our security. Follow our 3 social media advice to help safeguard your privacy:

Be careful about what you post
Your neighbor, that person on the street on the other night, the boy who is secretly in love with you, that shopkeeper in your neighborhood – you can’t really trust anyone. Then how can you think your private pictures, your everyday details which you post online are safe? News flash! They are not. So, stop posting everything about your life online, because you never know who might stalk you and can get leverage from all these details. Do not post anything which can put you in danger.

Be careful about your online friend
One of the most common ways of online fraud is identity thefts. One may never know who they are talking to and so giving too much information about oneself can be very risky. So, be careful and never let your guard down. Try accepting friend requests from people you personally know or met. But, if you really want to make some new friends then before accepting their friend requests, do some research about their authenticity.

Be careful about your account security
By now you don’t need to be told why online privacy protection is so important. Secure all your social accounts by changing its privacy settings. Go to the settings and secure your account by putting a strong passcode. Do not share this with anyone. Also, you can alter your audience by altering your privacy setting. Put profile picture guard on your display photo so no one could download it for their personal agenda. Try to avoid sharing your mobile no., home or office address online, but if you have to then don’t share it publicly.
